20 AUG Clothing Swap

If you haven't RSVPd yet for the clothing swap, please do. Also Jennie talked to the pregnancy crisis center & Operation Blessing. They are looking forward to receiving the items left from our swap. They also really need nonperishable food. so please bring in come canned goods for us to donate.

clothing swap is right around the corner- 20 Aug 9:30-noon in the youth center at Manna at Cliffdale. I'm super excited that we will be combining our clothing/ toy swap with GRACE Homeschool groups clothing swap. This will help us combine our efforts and mean a bigger swap for everyone- more and bigger size range of clothes and ages of books and toys. Our clothing swaps are successful because everyone pitches in to help. We need everyone to pitch in the day of the swap for things to run smoothly. I also need some more people to volunteer for our "committee". If you can help, please let me know.

here's answers to a few questions I've gotten about the swap:

-do I have to use the childcare? no, as long as you can supervise your children & help with setting up & packing up. you can keep your children with you.

-what if I sign up for childcare and can't go? we will have to pay for workers based on how many children are scheduled. That means we have to pay for that slot. (Last time I paid $20 for people who didn't show up- I don't want to do that again.) of course, if your child is sick, don't bring him/ her to childcare. If you can't come, please let me know ahead of time.

Enjoy the end of summer- come out to Waldo's Beach this Friday. $5 per child during the week. $6 per adult. Let me know if you're coming- so we will be on the lookout for you. I'm bringing a picnic lunch for my family. hope to see you!

Lake Waldo's features fun camping in the summer with easy access to a small public water park* consisting of: lazy river, swimming pool with larger water slide, lake swimming with a rope swing, two blobs, slides and children play areas as well as picnic areas with shelter and grill. Lake Waldo's also has a pet trail, fishing pier, boat ramp, fishing and paddle boat rental!

Fight the heat with a splash of water! Come enjoy the pad as water sprinkles from a rainbow of colored arches. Onlookers can relax under the shaded tables near the splash pad. Open to the public and fun for all ages. The Pad closes on September 30.

Monday-Friday, 3 pm-6 pm (it opens at 10 now that school is out)

Saturday -10 am -6 pm

Sunday - 1 pm -6pm; free admission

that is off 301 across from the pwc. It is a park that has a playground, rest rooms, picnic area and a nice set of sprinklers. It is free to go and the sprinklers are nice if you have little ones but don't really want to go to a pool. There are an assortment of sprinklers they can run thru, under and over. The pad where the water is has a fence around it with just one way in or out (right next to the rest rooms). The last time I was there you had to bring your own chairs or blankets to sit on the grass around the sprinklers but to me that isn't a huge deal.

The small, water-toy filled Splash Pad, located at Christina Smith Park, sits just outside downtown Fayetteville. Despite its small size, the Pad packs a punch with its water fountains, sprayers and cannons, all for free.

The details: 500 Fisher St. Call the J.S. Spivey Recreation Center at 433-1572. Admission: Free
Hours: 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday to Saturday, 1 to 6 p.m. Sunday
Food: There is no snack bar, but visitors are allowed to bring food, which cannot be eaten inside the Pad.
Picnic area: Benches sit under a canopy next to the Splash Pad. Visitors can take their food there. The area can be rented out, though, so if it’s too crowded, find a shady spot just outside the Pad to enjoy your snacks.

9 July- North Regional Library 11 am

I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend. This Friday 9 July at 11 am at the North Regional Library: bubble-popping fun as we hear stories, sing songs and of course, pop bubbles. Then head over to the park on Rosehill to play in the park.
